Redefining Poverty from the African Perspective - Public Lecture

On Friday evening, February 12th, join us in a discussion about poverty and aid in Africa. Representing the unique situations of Sudan, Uganda, Kenya and Zimbabwe, our speakers Buk Arop, Miriam Sekandi, Ayub James and Amandla Ngwenya are coming together for a critical debate and discussion on what poverty and aid mean from an African perspective and what role Canadians have in supporting development in Africa. The roundtable discussion will be followed by an open space for discussion.

Date:         Friday, February 12th
Time:         7:00 p.m. start (6:30 doors open)
Location:   Room 358 Education South (University of Alberta)
Cost:         Free (donations welcome!)

Donations will go to support Ainembabazi Children's Project's work in Uganda, Mthwakazi Foundation's work in Zimbabwe and Imani Africa Foundation's work in Kenya.

This event is part of the Students United for Africa: Youth Leadership Forum planned and hosted by the Ainembabazi Children's Project, an organization committed to the promotion of universal education and well-being of orphans and vulnerable children affected by the AIDS pandemic in Uganda.

We look forward to welcoming you to this important dialogue!
